December 3rd, 2013
For Parents of students in Senior Kindergarten who are interested in registering a student for French Immersion for the 2014-2015 school year, please note the following:
The French Immersion registration process will begin on Thursday, January 9, 2014 on the Waterloo Region District School Board website,
Grade 1 French Immersion classes will be generated using a lottery system through the following process:
Registrants who have a sibling enrolled in the FI program will be given preference for placement into the program until Friday, January 31, 2014.
Registrants who live within the geographical boundary of the school, and have been registered prior to January 31, 2014, will be placed next. If the number of residential boundary registrants exceeds the number of spaces available in the program (20 per class), and all students with older siblings are placed, a lottery system will be used to determine acceptance into the program.
If space is available, students from out of boundary will be placed in the program via lottery.
Any registrations received after January 31, 2014 will be placed in available classes or on waiting lists in the order they register regardless of residency. Efforts will be made to accommodate as many waiting list students as possible.
Information flyers detailing the web-based registration process will be distributed to all Senior Kindergarten families before the end of December.
If you have any questions regarding the Grade 1 French Immersion registration process, please contact Wanda West at extension 4277.
