A message from Ms. Brown Summer 2014

 It’s Been an Amazing Year!

From all of us at W.T. Townshend, thank-you for another great year. You know that it is our greatest hope that we can work together with our parents to make sure ‘our kids’ are learning and maturing in the safest environment we can provide. It is an honour for me to serve this wonderful community. At this time of year, we are always sorry to say good-bye to staff member who are leaving us. Some of our teachers are off in pursuit of permanent contacts, or on maternity leave, or to try new challenges. And I want to let you know that Mrs. Webster’s time with us is also over. I want to thank her for the amazing vision, hard work, and positive spirit. It has been a great pleasure working with you, Mrs., Webster! Staffing has not been fully completed at this time, so I will not publish a new staff list until the fall.

So until September 2nd, I wish you all a safe and relaxing summer.

School Council Update

Fundraising Update! Congratulations to our parent community who helped to raise over $10, 000.00 with our Chocolate Bar Campaign. Thank you to the volunteers who put countless hours into collecting and counting money, and especially to Mrs., Cleasby, our School Council Fundraising Chair. We now have raised over $25,000. toward our Greening Project initiative. We’re on our way! Please see the reverse for our Fundraising Plan for next year. Also remember that participation in any of these campaigns is absolutely voluntary.

Meet the Teacher Night is Thursday, September 4th!

Of course we are already making plans for next year, and the first event is our annual Meet the Teacher and Bar-B-Q which will be held on Thursday, September 4th. The Bar-B-Q gets underway at 5:30 PM. with our hamburger, chips and drink meal for a small cost. We are looking forward to seeing you all then.

2014-15 Class Lists Posted on Friday, August 29th

On Friday, August 29th our community gathers outside our front doors to eagerly see which class their children are in for the upcoming year. Please know that a huge amount of effort and consideration has gone into this process. It is not lightly done and decisions must be made in the best interest and fairness of all families. Please also be aware that occasionally a school may have to re-organize depending on new registrations, so it is possible that families may find out after a few weeks that their child needs to change classes. So let’s all be relaxed about the process, and don’t communicate any disappointment or anxiety to our children. They sometimes handle things better than us stressed-out adults!

It takes a community to build a natural playground!

 As you know, WTT is raising funds to enhance our green space and build a natural playground. You can help by participating in our fundraisers throughout the 2014/2015 school year. Select WT Townshend as your school to support; 10% from every order comes back to WTT.

 Other ways you can help are canvassing for corporate sponsors, donating building supplies and natural materials, and participating in school council. Please ask for one of our pamphlets for further details.

 Our natural playground and greening project enhances the health and wellness of the entire WTT community. Please consider how you can be a part of this project in the upcoming 2014/2015 school year!
