WTT Office Update November 26, 2014
Lates:
We have seen an increase in the number of students’ late in the morning. We understand that everyone is busy and mornings get quite rushed at times. Although the lineup seems quite long , we still require students to be signed in at the office each time they arrive late to ensure safety of our students and accuracy in our attendance check process.
Dogs on School Property:
We are concerned that we continue to see dogs on the school property.
Please do not bring dogs on school property when dropping off and picking up your children.
WTT: Engaging Parents to Benefit Students, School and the Entire Community
W.T. Townshend Public School hosted first of a series of twelve workshops for parents of newer English Language Learners on “how to help your child at home”. As an initiative to provide orientation about the school system in Canada, parents learn about our approach to literacy and numeracy development, the importance of first languages, and the parent’s role in how their involvement has biggest impact on student learning and achievement. Parents and ELLs will meet after school, observe lessons, borrow resources, understand school routines, make connections with teachers and act as a resource for the Multicultural club of the school. WTT is using OFIP funding to deliver this after school opportunity for students and parents. We look forward to improved student achievement and more connected parent-school relationships. This is one of several after school parent engagement strategies W.T. Townshend is inviting its community to participate in. We are a village raising its children!
Changes
Please note the the following changes:
- Awareness Day, originally scheduled for this Friday, November 28, will now be Movember Day. Wear your mustaches and support the cause!
- Pizza Day for the week of December 15 will be on Monday, December 15 not Tuesday the 16th as stated on the order form.
