Dear W. T. Townshend PS Families,

I want to make you aware of a situation that happened in our school community earlier this week.

A student in our community was approached by an unknown man in a van after playing basketball after hours on Monday. The man asked if the student wanted a ride and said not to worry because he was a friend of their dad’s. The student ran away and notified a parent. The incident was reported to the school administration at Queensmount PS, who contacted Waterloo Regional Police and are currently investigating.

The man was driving a white cube van, was light to dark-skinned with a beard and wearing a toque.

We would like to stress that the student who made this report is safe and did the right thing in getting away from the unknown person and making a report. We encourage you to remind your child to not speak with strangers and to report anything or anyone that seems suspicious.

We always take every necessary precaution to ensure the safety of our students and staff. As always, please call me at the school at 519-579-1160 if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Lori Briscoe         Sandra Himann
