It is with a very heavy heart that WT Townshend P.S. mourns the loss of Ursula Riedl, who passed away June 24, 2024. Mrs. Riedl was Head Secretary at WTT for over 10 years. She went on medical leave in January 2023. Mrs. Riedl kept the school running smoothly and touched the lives of many students and parents. She welcomed families to our school and took care of many scraped knees and bumped heads. Her compassionate and caring manner could be felt in the office and throughout the whole school.

Mrs. Riedl will be greatly missed. She was a foundational part of our school staff. Our thoughts are with her husband, daughters, family and friends.

In honour of Mrs. Riedl, the flags at WT Townshend and the Waterloo Region District School Board will be flown at half mast for the next week.

Members of the Board’s Critical Events Response Team have been consulted to support our students and staff. Please check in with your child in the days to come. If you have any concerns about your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school to discuss support.
